About The Artwork
This painting is inspired by a young boy's desire to learn music and art, regardless of his surroundings, society and conditions. Whatever his situation might be, he got himself an instrument and decided learn, play and bring beauty to everyone around him. Despite any limitations, obstacles and problems, the music that he plays can bring color and life to anyone who wants to see it and become inspired by it. Charcoal was used to realistically draw the boy while playing his violin. Then, I added the watercolor background and then the musical notes and twirls were made with markers. This painting is ready to hang out of the box. The heavy 300gsm paper can be framed and hanged on any wall. The painting is also sealed with fixative.

Pedro Silva Santos, aspiring artist from Portugal, Lisbon 1979. I've always liked drawing since I was young and at the time I was using just pencil graphite for some simple sketches. I stopped drawing in the university to focus on my studies and been working on another field since then. All these years I've always wanted to go back to drawing so I've started again in early 2018. Now, I've been learning how to use charcoal which I really like. I love working on detailed, realistic pieces favoring human poses and forms as well as close-up objects, especially with striking lighting effects and shadows. I love a blank sheet, the feeling of a pencil on paper, the sound of the first stroke, the final result and everything in between.
