About The Artwork

"Angle of Perspective" is an artwork inspired by the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. It explores themes such as mental anguish, PTSD, domestic abuse, tragedies, homicide, and more. The painting juxtaposes destruction with the serene beauty of nature, inviting viewers to contemplate the complexities of our existence. In this artwork of 2 connected canvases and a two-dimensional composition, both 2D and 3D elements are incorporated, creating a visually engaging experience. At the heart of the painting, abandoned objects take center stage, carrying concealed narratives and the mystery of why they are in the middle of a rural road. They convey a sense of instability and uncertainty, symbolizing the upheaval and turmoil in our lives. These objects hint at deeper, possibly unsettling layers beneath their seemingly ordinary facades. On the left side, a teapot and cups, frozen in a moment of motion, evoke a profound sense of instability and uncertainty as they appear to fall or move, symbolizing the upheaval and turmoil that surrounds the narrative. In the distant skyline behind the empty agricultural fields, a cityscape emerges, with faint flickers of faraway fires and explosions adding a touch of ominous tragedy to the scene. These distant flames serve as a stark contrast against the tranquility of nature that envelops them. It prompts us to consider the delicate balance between tranquility and the unseen disturbances that exist within our surroundings. Employing deliberate disruptions and deconstructions, the painting reflects on the inherent fragility of life and the environment that sustains us. "Angle of Perspective" transcends boundaries and offers a profound glimpse into the depths of the human psyche amidst times of upheaval. It is an invitation to step into a world where art serves as a powerful catalyst for introspection, expanding our perspectives and fostering a deeper connection to the plight of humanity.

I'm a York-based multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in Painting and Sculpture from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. I received the Helena Rubinstein - American-Israeli Culture Foundation grant and was recognized by Philip Leider curator, critic and founding editor of ARTFORUM. as one of the ten most promising Israeli artists of the 80s. I create immersive, multidimensional artworks that challenge traditional painting's boundaries by merging painting and sculpture, reshaping the spatial presence of art. My pieces transcend conventional displays, integrating shifting three-dimensional elements onto, beneath, or behind the canvas. Exhibited on diverse platforms like walls, stands, turntables, or floor displays, my artworks invite interaction, enabling viewers to explore from multiple angles, including the canvas backsides. These creations are hybrid entities, constructed and deconstructed, revealing an animated process that exposes layered meanings, brushstrokes, and evolving forms. Influenced by diverse contexts and cultural experiences, my themes delve into current events, pop culture, art about art, and societal issues. Stemming from my encounters as a transplant in varied cultures, my artworks visually portray dynamic transformations and shifting entities. I draw inspiration from various contexts, cultures, and disciplines, encompassing pop culture, current conflicts and events, cultural trends, gender advocacy movements, art-about-art (which involves referencing and art appropriation), as well as personal and social issues. Using my distinct style, colors, and personal narrative, I embed subtle references in my work that resonate uniquely with each viewer, inviting individual perspectives. My exploration of uniting different dimensions stems from my experiences as a transplant in different cultures. The artworks visually convey the concept of moving entities and their transformations. My artworks often develop and revolve around incorporating attributes into the narratives by depicting mundane objects that carry concealed narratives or stories. I juxtapose elements against commonplace backdrops, hinting at deeper, possibly unsettling layers beneath seemingly ordinary facades. This invites viewers to unravel and confront the hidden complexities and fragilities woven into the fabric of life and our environment.
