About The Artwork
Inspired by a faded grey vintage photo, circa 1925, of the wizened face of a 5 year old, "Antique" was both a color and a composition challenge. Cropped from a group photo, this child was different from the others, self contained and carrying the burden of his time on his brave young shoulders. The beautiful rendering, and golden finish over the guileless face from a time lost to history, makes this a very special piece. The child's name was David Carroll, a US veteran, now passed away. He would have treasured this image. Two coats varnish. Black, gallery wrapped edges. Signed on the front by the artist. Wired and ready to hang.
