An artist rep mentioned she would like to see a larger colorful version of my watercolor Almost There. I took on the challenge making this 48 x 36 artwork in Acrylic with gold gesso underpainting. The hair and waistband are applied with a palette knife of acrylic paint mixed with molding paste for its sculptural texture. The background, hair, eyes, room, and even the imposed situation of staying to work off those last few lbs or the freedom to exit are responsive. There's something for everyone in this piece. Makes for great conversation too! This was one of 130 pieces selected out of 1400 entries for the CVG Show.
