About The Artwork

Astrolabe combines two different personal interests. In the past I lived the life of a boat builder then Ships crewmember. After 12 years I returned to the US to further my academic studies in Fine Arts and Science. Astrolabe was a ship doing archeological, sociological & naturalist research in the S Pacific seas. The zig-zagging red horizontal trace pictorally represents theories concerning CHAOS; 'all stable states pass through periods of chaos before returning to a stable state a new'. Experiencing life and weather conditions at sea respects perfectly the theories of Chaos.

I immigrated to the South Of France in 1988 just after graduating with a Diploma in Fine Arts. I had a studio in Grasse, the perfume capitol of the world. In 1990 My wife and I restaured an old farm house near the Pyrenees. We adopted two boys and I continued with my thematic research concerning the contents of my paintings, almost always trying to find a pictorial language to express different concepts I became familiar with trough my readings. My printmaking subjects are much autobiographical.
