In 1973 i came across NASA photography which immediately inspired me to start a series of paintings of astronaut spacewalks and the lunar expedition. I spent some 10 years making drawings and paintings of the subject and have never outgrown my interest in it nor the inspiration which has led me to paint astronauts, moon walks, stars, comets, the Big Dipper and the Earth as seen from space. It has also influenced my paintings of Rimbaud's Drunken Boat. This was my second large painting (1975-77) of the subject made of 15 conjoined handmade canvases separable into a vertical triptych. The first one was a single canvas 60" x 132" (high).
