Autumn Revelry Painting

My inspiration comes from by my love of nature of my home country of New Zealand, a country of vast and bountiful beauty. Having also lived in Canada and the Pacific Northwest I became intrigued by the shapes of trees and birch and aspen trees in particular. I wanted to paint trees in a variety of shapes and more abstractly. To me this is a more modern way to paint. Using a palette knife I am able to keep it loose and to add interesting texture. I initially paint the background then come over to create the trees by pulling the knife through while the undercoat is still wet revealing the palette underneath and well as the colors on my knife to create the trees. Looking closely you can see the incredible variety of colors that come forth. Contemporary paintings, but always based in landscape and nature. Attracts Contemporary and Traditional Collectors alike
