B2 Painting

This Work has similarly to 'Sticky Rat I.' been conceptualised post researching the Charles Booth London Poverty Maps (CBLPM). This piece is an imaginative scene depicting a Bourgeoise pro-Gentrification redevelopment planner deciding upon the new direction of attack. The Contextualised colour palette from the CBLPM's is back again to highlight that the tide of Gentrification will be engulfing an area of little infrastructure housing working class residents. This Looming figure of course wishes to eradicate the little life left in this locale they deem the 'shady side of town'. This work was created as a response to one of my peers at university creating a digital piece which imagined a similarly bleak scene. One in which her home town of Basildon was overran by feudalistic, dystopian rule and there were plans for a second town, B2 to be implemented floating above the original. My imagination takes a much less fictional dystopian stance and remains one bound in reality however. The particular plans this oligarchical gentrifier has for the new locale are written all over his face. Contextually bound in street plans derived from sheets of the poverty maps.
