There was a time when I really wanted to do completely original painting. I felt like I couldn't get away from the influence of my favorite artists; Picasso, Basquiat, Klee, Duchamp, Miro and Rauschenberg. It was like I was carrying all this 'baggage'! And so I did this painting with references to these great artists on the bags. I've stopped worrying about this now, I realize that nothing is completely original. I relish in the influence of these great artists.
