About The Artwork
The painting shows two black Ila herdsmen with pointed upwards ponytails dressed in green,red and dark chitenge wrappers Kente and Ankara prints. Basankwa painting was inspired by the beauty of the Ila traditional ceremony Shimunenga a colourful celebration of a good harvest in the southern province of Zambia. The brush strokes of oil and water complementary colours celebrates the joyful success of a good harvest. The painting is ready to hung with a wood frame covered in soft material primed painting.
