Basil's Folly Nº 9 Painting

Basil's Folly No.9 is part of the ongoing Basil's Folly series. No. 9 introduces touches of bright saturated color and more expressive, almost confetti like brushwork. When I originally started the series I was thinking about how children like to pretend and imagine wonderful things when they play – anything and everything is possible. I began thinking about a child’s game that included an invisible folly. By folly, I mean the architectural definition. Initially I 'placed' the unseen folly in abstracted landscape settings but now, the environment has shifted to include bright playful colors and gestural paint handling. Basil's Folly No.9 : {+} Is created with acrylic paint on archival 100% cotton 640 gsm heavy weight primed paper {+} Will be carefully packaged including a pH neutral barrier to protect the surface {+} Full signature and date on the back, small discreet initials on the front and certificate of authenticity {+} Fine layer of archival varnish applied to front of artwork to protect/inhibit UV rays {+} The full paper size is 22h x 30w (56h x 76w cm) however I am suggesting a 1-2" crop / mat allowance for the framer and to help cover the edges.
