About The Artwork

This painting is part of an on going series of paintings on this theme, and is inspired by a stunning view that saw within the charming coastal village of Port Patrick of the North Channel Sea. I recall my fascination at the time was watching the beautiful rolling emerald green waves, and noting how it light and vibrant the sea appeared. I also remember vividly the sounds that day, especially the sound of the brilliant white surf as it broke and splashed and fizzled against the harbour rocks. It was painted using Artists quality oils on paper, and signed on both the front and back. It is unframed, this is left for the buyer to choose to suite their own tastes and décor requirements. Shipped using high quality packaging and materials to gallery standards.

Multidisciplined artist (painter, illustrator, designer, maker, musician, music producer and composer). Born 1968 and based in West Yorkshire, I specialise in creating contemporary landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, portraiture and figurative oil paintings. My paintings are representational and often painted in series, or as part of a themed collection. I work in various opaque mediums and surfaces, though my preferred medium is oil on canvas, as this gives the greatest flexibly and richness of colour and quality of finish. Influences are many and varied, a few include Pissarro, Klimt, Grimshaw, Millais, and Waterhouse, and their processes and techniques have served as a fundamental teaching aid to my own learning. I come from a line of artists, which has had a very strong influence during my formative years. For the most part I am a self taught, after learning the rudiments through formal education, much of my knowledge of painting comes through countless hours practice over the past thirty years and more. My passion for art began at an early age and was greatly encourage throughout my childhood. I went on to study Graphic Design at Batley Art college in 1984. During this time I formed my first band, this eventually led to becoming a professional musician in the following years. Music remains to be a strong part of my creative practice, and to this day I continue to work with long time collaborator and close friend, award winning singer songwriter Shaun T. Hunter (aka Captain of the Lost Waves). Over the past decade we have produced several albums and music videos together. In 2006, after many years as an amateur artist I took up painting full time and began my professional practice. Since then I have taken part in numerous exhibitions, and my work has been sold through both bricks and mortar and online Galleries alike, and continue to gain ever growing number of customers and admirers throughout UK and beyond.
