1000 WORDS

They say, "a smile is worth 1000 words". A smile is something that you OWN and by no means is THIS something explained only captured in pictures or PAINTING. On average a smile uses 12 facial muscles, so have you smiled TODAY?

The smilling Massai woman in the painting was dressed in her regalia and full of joy under the scorching African sun. Her smile enchanted me and when I made this painting I decided to use fabric thick paint in the beads to enhance 3D texture that you can touch and feel. The reason for SMILE was unbeknown to me though the smile overwhelmed me reminding me, even though times are hard, a SMILE is a sign things will get better.

The medium I chose to paint on is canvas. Canvas has a long life span, easier to paint on and much lighter to transport than traditional wood.

Hi, my name is Abu Mwenye. I am a Tanzanian American artist living here in the US. My areas of specialty are: Acrylic paintings, oils, commission works, and really anything which challenges my creative mind. My interest in Art was inspired by my Uncle's sketches. As a teenager I took formal art classes to hone my artistic abilities. Later, during my college years I studied sketching and watercolor painting. Now my passion is to paint with oils, acrylic and have been learning and exploring with them for quite awhile. My art depicts all aspects of African life.. My customers love that my work depicts many cultural scenes ranging from realistic portraits of Masai children to more abstracted tribal figures, and also includes realistic African landscapes. My love of art runs deep inside me, and I have an excellent eye for detail which helps to keep my clients happy.
