Befor Burning 3 Painting

The inspiration for my work was the forest fires that occurred in the region where I live in 2018. This great devastation became my source of inspiration. Additionally, I can say that I was inspired by the photo-realistic works of the German painter Gerhard Richter, created after World War II. Here, nature became my figure. As the fire advances, the ones not burning watch with great helplessness. Motionless trees and the scene of most living beings having to watch until they themselves burn without having a place to escape create a profound view. The wooded areas I have been photographing since 2015 had disappeared. The ordinary nature photographs I took in the area for six years gained significance because they had vanished. The only thing left in my hands was the ashes brought from the fire site by my daughter. The paint used in all the pictures of this series contained the ashes of the forest. These were the ashes, the single component left from the funerals. The decorative structures of the paintings in this series are somewhat to conceal the dramatic nature of the subject. Looking at a more traditional, ordinary beauty that still appeals to the eye despite all this destruction. After all, a bird on a tree branch… In all the paintings of this series, acrylic paint containing the ashes of the forest was used. All the paintings first existed with live backgrounds, then I burnt them. The closest layer to us remained alive, until it, too, burned.
