About The Artwork

This piece was created to depict the feeling before a moment of clarity and forward motion, when everything feels chaotic and in flux but is actually an important time of productive processing that ultimately allows a leap ahead. It is an expressive painting created with acrylic on a deep-edge canvas. It is vibrant and includes metallic paint elements. This is a medium-sized painting that is aesthetically strong enough to hang alone but can also happily hang alongside other pieces. The sides are painted the same blue as a paint used in the painting itself; the piece is signed by me; there are d-rings and picture cord on the back (see additional photos) and it is ready to hang. It would also frame well should you wish to do that.

I'm an artist working primarily in painting and drawing from my studio in rural Wiltshire, UK. I am fascinated by the relationship between language and images, and my current series, Sleep, is inspired by instances of sleep, insomnia, dreaming and nightmare in poems and other works of literature. In 2020, I completed a series of 48 small paintings inspired by T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets poems. Readings of the poems, set against the backdrop of my paintings, can be heard and seen on my YouTube channel. A book about the project will be published in 2021. My work is regularly exhibited in galleries and open exhibitions across the UK, and is included in private collections in the US, Australia, France and Britain.
