ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Three open oysters, ready to be tasted and which reveal their brilliant flesh with slightly green and amber tints. For once, the touches of paint are clearly visible, particularly to give the shells their rough character while contrasting with the softness and smooth side of their flesh. The background is dark and almost monochrome (but if you look closely, you will see the blue and brown hues of the shells). It is an inspiration from the paintings of the Dutch masters and their still lifes. It is also treated with material to give movement to this composition.

Jean-François Laurent (JFL) was born in Lille (France) in 1975. He has taken fine arts lessons (oil painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture…) from 7 to 21 years old as a way to express and to develop his own personality. He has started to paint with his proper style in 1997 mainly with oil painting on canvas. He is inspired by lights, colors and transparency. He has been influenced by the masterpieces of Lyonel Feininger, Robert Delaunay or Constantin Brancusi.
