Please note this is a round shaped canvas, 12’ in diameter. This painting belongs to my Bio-Cluster series and looks at the microscopic minutiae of life with all its order and chaos and at what is real but cannot be seen with our normal sight. I use microscopes and magnifying devices in my exploration into these micro-worlds. The circular shape of the canvas makes a direct reference not just to the lenses I view this mini-world through, but also the tools of seeing we use in life and science, like the microscope, periscope, cameras or even torchlight. The cellular organic motifs are inspired by visceral & biological life forms as well as making references to the otherworldliness of the building blocks of life. I wanted the painting to create a sense of awe in the beauty of the micro-world yet also have a feeling of fragility and preciousness. I loved making this artwork and I hope you enjoy it too. All paintings are varnished with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching. NO FRAMING NECESSARY as the edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a rich black to compliment the painting. And the artwork is ready to hang with picture wire. Painting is signed, titled and dated verso.

‘I am interested in making paintings with verve that breathe with an intense uplifting energy for those viewing them. I am totally inspired and fascinated by life forces with its contrasts of order and chaos, but especially in the patterns created by nature, particularly microscopic worlds, aquatic life and the infinite beauty and wonder of the natural world. Having grown up on the cliffs of Bass Strait I am also deeply inspired by the life giving waters of the sea. The power of a crashing wave, vast horizon lines, submerged views of light or miniscule single cell algae, these universes are forever influencing the pictorial spaces in what I do’.
