About The Artwork

This artwork is from my “Mini Lava Art Series” inspired by solid lava in my native country Iceland, theme « Earth and Fire Elements ». In crafting this small but mighty piece, I’ve harnessed the raw and primal forces of nature. Using acrylic, modeling paste and sand, I have sculpted a visceral and tactile expression that speaks to the beauty of contrast and the power of simplicity. This is a meditation on strength and resilience, a dance of light and shadow, an ode to the volcanic spirits that mold and shape our earth. It’s a reminder of the eternal interplay between creation and erosion, life and the inexorable passage of time. Klara Gunnlaugsdottir is an Icelandic painter who has been living in Brittany, France for many years. She is an experienced artist with international exposure and her works are held in private collections worldwide. The singularity of Klara's painting is based on a contemporary abstract style inspired by nature, in particular the landscapes of her native Iceland. Indeed, the painter grew up in a small town near Reykjavik, surrounded by lava fields on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Like nature, her work depicts the opposition between light and dark, rough and smooth, thick and thin. With multiple layers of paint and modeling pastes, she builds depth and interesting texture onto the canvas. Her paintings are powerfull with bold brushstrokes and strong contrast where light and dark colors compete. Klara Gunnlaugsdottir suggests and reveals the invisible in her paintings, always giving free rein to individual interpretation. Statement: “I paint simply because it makes me feel good and gives me fulfillment, it is my way to express myself and communicate with the world. I consider each of my artwork as a field of exploration and sharing. I hope to convey through my paintings the energy, wellness and healing that emerges from nature all around us. That’s why it is a great pleasure for me to share my work and passion with others. “
