Black's Island Painting

"Black's Island" is a mysterious place located about 2.5 miles from the coast of Port St. Joe, FL, on St. Joseph Bay & just off the Gulf of Mexico. I visited the island resort with a group of friends, which inspired this colorful painting. This mixed media 24" x 36" painting is one of my favorites, like one of those nights where you didn't want to go out but it ended up being the "best night ever!" I just started painting on an old wallpapered pegboard panel from an old tradeshow display... something on that island must have set me free. I used acrylic paint along with colored heavy resin drips, and recycled cork. The weathered barnwood frame really adds a rustic touch that completes the vibe of the piece.
