About The Artwork

"Mirror, mirror on the wall..." - It only takes a few words and the fairy tale is back in your head, the images from your childhood before your eyes. Many idioms that we still use today have their origins in fairy tales and legends. Fairy tales are an integral part of our culture and are therefore deeply rooted in our memory. In this project, Beate Fahrländer examines various text/image quotations for their effectiveness in our time. From four Grimm's fairy tales, she has picked out one picture situation in detail and provided it with fragmentary picture titles. The viewer is invited to match the title to the corresponding painting and name the fairy tale in question.
