About The Artwork

In the spring of this year of pandemic I was fondly remembering last year's trip to Zion National Park in Utah and looking back through my travel sketchbook I fell in love with those marvelous rock walls all over again. In the evenings and early mornings it was fascinating watching the light and shadows move and reveal intricate areas of a rock jig saw puzzle that we never got tired of looking at. I decided to put it into paint and recapture some of that wonderful place that is now quietly awaiting our return. This painting is ready to hang with 1.5" edges painted to harmonize and does not need framing.

I was born in Southern California and am now living in a wine country town in Northern California. After getting a B.A. in art from the University of California at Davis I worked as an art director, book designer and illustrator in the publishing industry for several years. I am now painting full time. My favorite media is acrylic because of it's tremendous versatility and fast drying qualities. My paintings generally have many layers of paint and sometimes textural stamping embedded giving them a dimensional aspect. My interests tend to be in the range of animals, birds, gardens, landscapes and sometimes completely abstract themes. Lately I've been exhibiting in local galleries and juried shows and right now I am working toward having a solo show, February 2018, at the local Persons Gallery in Santa Rosa. My favorite substrate is gallery wrapped canvas or board that doesn’t have to be framed and presents a clean, modern look. I like to finish the edges with layers of metallic interference paints that work with the colors of the painting.
