Blue Sky Series is a series of 10 paintings I made in response to moving to Los Angeles about two years ago. The paintings are a conversation between LA and myself. The series is in two parts. The first five are very reactionary to the light, highways and intensified colors of LA. The second five are my response to the chaos. They are an invitation to go on a search for Shangri La, a search for peace, to look at what is here, but to also look beyond to something better.

Victor Atkins is an artist, writer and director originally based in Brooklyn, New York. From 1970 - 1988, Atkins was a prevalent artist working in SoHo, Manhattan where his work was represented by Louis Meisel Gallery. His work is held in private collections at the Museum of Modern Art Lending Library in New York City, DuPont Children's Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, Allentown Museum of Art in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield Connecticut and in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Additionally, Miles Davis' 1968 LP of "Miles in the Sky" features Atkins' illustration work on the cover. After a twenty year hiatus, a genesis-like experience brought Atkins back to his original passion, painting. In 2017, Atkins relocated to Los Angeles, where he currently lives and works. His latest works speak to his Los Angeles experience. Through the use of blends of brilliant colors and geometric shapes, the work reflects the landscapes, highways, and beauty of L.A. in a "dream space" architecture infused with emotion, contemplation, and spirituality. Atkins has been reviewed in Art International, Arts Magazine, Metro.US, Philadelphia Neighborhoods and Resource Exchange.
