ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The inspiration for this work comes from memories of the landscape of Australia (where I now live ) and the landscape of England, my birthplace. I love art forms that over time you discover more on every viewing and so the paintings I make have those same qualities. I choose to work in acrylic with mediums as I like to paint fast and intuitively so I need the fast drying time for multi layering. Also I choose abstract imagery as I paint without planning, drawing, photographs. I make marks and follow this process adding, reducing covering until I reach a cohesive image.

English born, based in Australia I received my art training in both countries., majoring in painting and ceramics. My studio is located in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast. I have used different mediums in my art practice including encaustic, collage, ceramic, inks, acrylics and oils and I am currently creating works from memories of English and Australian landscape. My work practice is intuitive. I do not make work from photographs, drawings, or plans of any kind. I just start and memory and mark making set me on a journey of layering marks and partial erasing until I feel the final combination of marks is cohesive. I have been exhibiting since my arrival from England in 1991 with over sixty shows and my work is held in private collections worldwide and in public collections in Brisbane and Gympie Queensland.
