ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The phrase that inspired this title was spoken by the renowned Cuban, José Martí, in one of his patriotic speeches, in which he stirred the desire to return to Cuba and behold the beauty of its landscapes and the majesty of the royal palms... "The Palms are Like Brides Waiting." Without abandoning the poetry of his words, I created a series of 'bride palms' with a touch of magical realism and much irony, turning his iconic phrase into a dire reality. While at one point Cubans felt the need to return to their homeland, today some are willing to go to great lengths to leave the island.t lengths to leave the island
