This piece was inspired by the ruggedness of the characters of the west. The thought of how these cowboys dealt with weather, the heat, the dust, and the terrain. They were someone to look up to. This is what I tried to express in this piece of work! This piece needs no frame, its done on wood panel that is gallery wrap!

George Ameal Wilson, spent his formative years in Texas, where he developed his love for cowboys watching western movies with his grandmother. He is also fascinated with Native Americans. After moving to Los Angeles, he earning a B.A. in fine arts from Cal State Los Angeles. He had shows in Los Angeles, Denver, Tucson, Seattle, and Las Vegas. He recently moved to Nevada where he is still committed to his art. Some of his jury shows, Fairmont Hotel Denver Colorado 1980 Best of Show, Las Vegas Artist Guild Show Green Valley Library Best in Oils. He studied under Si Fountain for five years, he was also a student of Joseph Gibby for two years. Exhibits: Semantics Gallery, Edmonds Washington, Five Points Center, Denver Colorado, Wild Horse Gallery Moapa Valley, Nevada. Presentations: Prairie View College Prairie View, Texas. Bear Creek School Redmond, Washington. Murals: "Kodac Film Processing House" Denver Colorado, "T&T Railroad Museum" Death Valley Junction, City Ligths Gallery in Henderson, NV. When, growing up he was inspired by Norman Rockwell, so he tries to have his art tell a story. His concern in his work is for people of all ethnic groups who were part of the western experience. These ethnic groups contributed to our history and he wants to show this in his work. They were here; they did something; and he believes we need to open up to our history and see that this country was built by various groups of people. He saw no mention of these people growing up as a child. His goal is to convey his thoughts and messages through his paintings. He is sometimes referred to as an Anthropologist Artist.
