About The Artwork
This is a painting of Shiva's Bull, Nandhi. In Indian mythology, the Bull has surrendered so completely to Lord Shiva, that there is no difference between them. This is an analogy for the surrender of the ego. I am fascinated by the interplay between the ego, the mind and identity. The Bull sculpture in every Shiva temple inspires me on my spiritual quest. This particular Bull is based on the one in Shiva's temple at Warangal and is known as Ramappa's Bull.
