About The Artwork
It is a challenge to paint the coffee cup, the plate with a palette knife. The gold on the chocolate paper, made up of several different yellows, plus even more reflections. In the background, the street is subtly perceived in patches. I love this theme. And the story of painting. Imagine you are walking down a charming Parisian street on a beautiful morning, and you stumble upon a cozy café. You decide to step inside and indulge in a delicious cappuccino and chocolate croissant. As you savor the flavors, you gaze out of the window and notice the picturesque scene outside: cobblestone streets, quaint buildings with colorful shutters, and a beautiful flower-filled window box. You are struck by the simple beauty of the moment, and you are inspired to capture it in a painting. You take out your sketchbook and start to sketch the scene, noting the placement of the coffee cup and croissant on the table, the way the light falls on the buildings, and the colors of the flowers. Back in your studio, you transfer your sketch onto a canvas and start to paint. You mix the colors to capture the warmth and richness of the coffee, the creaminess of the foam, and the decadence of the chocolate croissant. You work on the details, adding shadows and highlights to give depth and dimension to the scene. You use a palette knife to add texture to the cobblestones and the building façades. Our lives, inner- selves are abstract and deep. The questions are for me always how to express the unsaid, the feelings, the thoughts, the unformulated. How to tell a friend, how was a concert? How was an exhibition? Have we got words for abstract feelings , thoughts which appear in the moment?
