About The Artwork

Carmen languidly rests in a landscape amalgamation of historical white male painters; the shadow lifted from Pierre Bonnard, the stream reminiscent of Andors Zorn, an Alex Katz tree line. This portrait of a talented contemporary painter finds her dipping her hand into the legacy of western art once inhabited exclusively by men. The portion of the river bank and stream at the left steps forward slightly towards the viewer. The embedded details in textured acrylic create a sculptural low relief effect; a taste of reality before flowing past her. Detail photo included.
