About The Artwork

In this series of paintings I try to show a visual interpretation of Brazilian handicrafts and place on the fabric as the patchwork tapestry, embroidery and lace. A vast material was researched to be compiled and expressed with acrylic paint on canvas. The compositions are almost always balanced with curves and minutiae; they are arabesques, created from the observation of different bushes and branches of vegetation in the cerrado. The palette comes mainly from tapestry, mixed with the influence of French Post-Impressionist posters. The theme chosen for these compositions was the fauna and flora, for the ease that it brings. I try to dilute the figure in the background and, this time, style it with a handcrafted treatment. The strokes of the brush in well-defined details of the images want to reveal a tool used and the appearance of “handmade”. Some effects are achieved with acrylic paint in different dilutions and it adds a wealth of details very present in all the researched material. It is an element that produces a smooth aesthetic and can send us to the idea of different textures, weaving and yarn.
