Change of Plans Painting

With a playful sense of freedom, the depth of layers, colours, and gestural movements are made with true intention. I paint in the moment, yielding to the process where each painting is derived from the intuitive. This allows it to be free from expectations, removing boundaries and preconceptions. I am working towards a gritty beauty in this series, drawn towards a raw, energetic, tumultuous expression. By releasing my feelings onto the canvas my mind stays open and present. I find that the creative force inside me flows freely when I shut off the mind chatter and paint with my heart, that’s when the magic happens. My process often involves re-working a piece several times before it’s finished. This creates a lovely layered, textured work that becomes more interesting the closer one looks. The act of creating makes me smile and even though its not always easy… sometimes i get stuck in that ugly art phase for awhile but that’s not when I quit. It takes courage to move beyond playing it safe and that is what makes it worthwhile, that is when the magic happens.
