As a painter, I tend to work on multiple paintings at a time. My paintings typically involve a lot of modeling and realistic rendering. However, I often enjoy hopping to abstract, geometric paintings like this one, which provide me with a sort of mental relief and allow me to focus more directly on form and color, which I love. This painting is an abstraction of a bead maze toy for children. Although we often try to simplify our lives, it seems to me that the more complicated our plates, the more at peace we often feel in hindsight. Actors are often taught to transform their anxiety into excitement for auditions, because it relies upon the same energy. Here the goal was to transform a tangled image of mental stimulation into a gratifying, dynamic composition of imperfect, jagged elements.

Please note that this is a deep, 2.25 inch canvas. The sides are painted the same olive green as the background. The canvas is ready to hang with hardware and is signed and dated on the back.
