Chroma descending shapes is a work inspired by travel. The idea formed while riding the train from New York back to my hometown near the Washington D.C. area. The work is a reflection of the movement and colors we encounter while traveling, but more notable taking in ones surroundings while being a passenger on a journey.

United States
Be it shiny, dull, big, or small, people have an impulsive desire to consume. American culture is obsessed with materialism and plastics are everywhere. At the heart of my artistic practice is the desire to make an object that can visually compete with the vast inventory of throw away objects on the marketplace. I make paintings that simplify forms and patterns found in our overly stuffed visual world. I work with everyday geometry and the human form to structure my obsessively tedious and highly crafted objects. My work both confronts and embraces materialism, reflecting on our fixation on consumable products that Western culture so rapidly engages in. Through a wide variety of mixed media, I create tactile, playful, paintings that function like eye candy, seducing the viewer with color, gloss, and glitter.
