Cinque Terre. Corniglia. Painting

I work with oil and tempera, makes mosaics and art installations, also works in architecture as muralist. My artwork is based on a personal narrative, related to getting out of the regional context. In my work I use images from Asian and European cultures. I am interested in cultural customs, spiritual practices and world outlook of people, and how they relate to environment and people’s way of life. Part of my work is dedicated to the unique natural sites that I’ve visited. Hence travelling and getting acquainted with traditions of other countries is closely tied to what I am creating in my studio in Moscow. In my work there are references to spirituality and to the idea of ecological consciousness. Ecological consciousness is a form of human consciousness that reflects the ecological aspect of being, relationship between humans and their environment, between society and nature. Thus, the paintings combine the images of idealized world and real events. Animals and birds of paradise are often the main characters, which I believe, are better of as being depicted on the canvas rather than kept in captivity.
