About The Artwork

Follow me in my social channel, visit my web site; www.michelangelovalenti.com In the literary work of the Odyssey, Homer tells us about the many adventures of Ulysses and his companions. On the return journey from the Trojan War to the homeland Ithaca, Ulysses and his companions land on the island of Eea, the men of the crew sent to explore are attracted by a song that leads them to a palace immersed in the woods where there are numerous wild animals, almost all men, with the exception of Eurilochus, won by curiosity enter the house where they are greeted by Circe who invites them to savor the succulent dishes of a banquet ready for the guests, but as soon as they taste the drinks and food, Ulysses' companions are transformed into animals, the deception revealed Eurylochus who had been held back by prudence, runs to warn his lord. In this work, the moment following these events is represented, wearing a simple purple dress and a veil held by a crown on her head, Circe, pleased by her cunning, sits outside her palace on a block of marble placing her foot on a Greek helmet, her face reveals an incautious security in her smile, while in her hands she jousts with a chain near a cauldron about to give life to new deceptions unaware of the arrival of Ulysses.
