Closeness oils on 30" x 40" linen canvas. This is a painting of my closest most beautiful and strong beings I know: Amie Wylder, a healer and energy worker who has taught me so much since we met years back. I'm always trying to do things differently so I can experiment a bit. I stayed up until 5am for three days in a row finishing up this painting. The energy I was tuning in was so intense (in a good way), I couldn't just go to bed. Wanted to paint skin that look very painterly, but also believable. I want my paintings to look like paintings and not photographs. I want my art to have a message. I love the effect when one steps back and all the colors, like a symphony, create this beautiful visual melody. I am a sucker for composition and placement; wanted to portray her as a goddess (which she is) raising above or coming down to this realm (depending on how you see the painting).

Born in Lima Peru(Now resides in Austin TX, USA), during times of political and social unrest (80's), modern day renaissance man J.C. Amorrortu began developing his unique approach and style in his creative endeavors (Music, Painting, Drawing, Illustration, Printmaking & Watercolor). His art reflects an eclectic mix of traditional and modern. J.C spent decades learning to paint in the old masters style (specially the Dutch style), he wanted to make art that had meaning but would also had museum quality technique. Seeing his first Vermeer painting changed his life and inspired him to make art that would last for centuries. The quality of his craft has earned him awards, commissions from wealthy patrons and the honor to have his art in private collections around the globe. He is very prolific and thinks a true artist should be able to paint what he/she feels without fear; a sense of humor never hurts either. beauty is find everywhere. As an artist you should strive to improve and to honor change; I am always changing and learning new techniques.
