Painting: Oil, Paint on Wood, Other.
This was made as part of the Deptford collection, exploring the history of the docks and particularly the copper bottoming of ships and the impact this had on sea trade in particular the transatlantic routes. This piece has copper sheathed edges and is made on wood. The pigments used are cobalt turquoise because of the post Restoration reintroduction of bright colours, and the echoes of instability in the material and the period. The yellow is an ochre. Ochres in my work hold the human element.
These works are an invitation to fall in get a little lost and to remember.
