About The Artwork
As a midwife at an earlier time my work looks at the Female Reproductive Body and the challenges it faces in the 21st Century. The work is inspired by the notion of a world predicated on patriarchy and its impact on womxns’ bodies. Using the fluid mediums of ink, and pigment in water, I allow the unpredictable result to happen and then I interfere and work intuitively into it. This way of working is likened to the unpredictable outcome of womxn as they navigate the terrain of a patriarchal world using their honed intuition.

My work is contemporary and current and the concepts I work with are often drawn from a rich reservoir of my earlier years as a midwife and psychiatric nurse. I interrogate ideas around the Body, Reproduction and emotional states.
