Ioulia Ourovskaia was born in Kazakhstan, a Central Asian country and former Soviet republic in 1975. This is where she began to dream to be an Artist. From as young as five years, she recollects sitting at the table with her other siblings and copying the drawing from a newspaper – heroic workmen in red overalls uniform with the right hand up in the air, and in the left holding a rolled newspaper with the name ‘TRUD’ meaning ‘work’. Later in school, she collected cut-outs from magazine ‘Ogonek’, meaning ‘light’, without missing a circulation, every artist, and their description of work. Art was her favorite subject and biology also because she got to draw in detail the plant cells and its organelles. She saw the beauty in any art form and shape, and it would transfer her into a magnificent, imaginative world of art. She would dream of following the footsteps of her older brother to be a student at Art School in Jambul city – now Taraz. She still regretted till today that she never became one of the students due to travelling distance circumstances. In 1988 her dream moved with her family to the populated village of Lobkovo and soon to Sushchevo where the family the anchored their lives and built the house. Five years earlier, before 1995, she found out that her mother was born in Australia, and this overturn their lives and became their next destination. She knew this is the country where she will become an Artist. Unfortunately, her dream of being an artist still didn’t happen right away on their arrival. Life seemed to take priority and organized her days and years in unknown and unplanned experiences by putting to rest her dream. Only at night, like an owl, she would be working on her creative side, and she thought she could do it forever but soon she realized she had to sleep. Also, she was taking some evening classes at the ‘National Art School’ and met lots of interesting art teachers like Dany Patter and Kim Spoonere, and the art community and saw its big world with its greatness. She knew she must stop recreational art and become professional. In 2011 she met a friend who believed in her more than herself and he was the one who encouraged her not to wait any longer and accomplish her dream. She began her workshops through the ‘Julian Ashton’ art school. The year was 2013 and she passed the gates of the historic ‘Darlinghurst Gaol’ site which now is the National Art School in an inner-city suburb of Sydney.
