About The Artwork

styrofoam pallets stuck to the canvas Selfless beauty "Coral reefs" by Krzysztof Pajak Artists of the 20th century were fascinated by archaic beauty, the magic of nature, and the color of nature. A dense color revolution, initiated at the end of the 19th century by Vincent van Gogh, play a role in the work of many of them, in various art transformations, crossing borders and configurations, creating new trends and forms. In the spring of 1888, Vincent van Gogh went to Arles in search of color. There he found an unusual blue sky, intense colors of nature, an explosion of smells. He put yellows, greens, reds, roses, purples on the surfaces of the paintings, painted the sky orange and the sun blue. In one of his letters to his brother he wrote: "The painter of the future will be a colorist." Announcing a turn of thoughts to the eye, a turn of the senses on knowing. The color in the act of painting was subject to the artist's known and intuitive uses. The optical action of color was subordinated to mental states, melted into unity, whole. Krzysztof Pająk follows a similar path. In his work, color has been used and an important asset in the emotional senses and reflective-expressive processes of describing man and his world. Properly located, it acquires well-thought-out meanings and becomes a poetic commentary. In the years 2006-2013 he created the cycle "Coral Reefs". The source of his inspiration were bright, colorful marine habitats: oceanic coral reefs. Built in different periods of prehistory from fossilized archaeocrats, Sturbus, algae, corals, they depict the past, talk about a beautiful and colorful world, unchanging in its eternal rhythm of birth and death. The artist transforms these special zones into symbols of the space that surrounds us. The place of their occurrence can only be warm, clean waters. These are life-friendly territories, happy areas. However, these are not peaceful areas. Inside them there is a constant competition of animals and plants, the struggle for survival, the dominance of some creatures over others. "Coral reefs" show contemporary agglomerations of mythical skyscrapers and skyscrapers. They talk about their secrets, warn against destroying the order. They reveal what is most important and most important in understanding the mechanisms of life. They are a record of emotions and irritations, bitterness and glare. Vibrating, pulsating images draw attention with their unique painting matter and duality of light effects. Some of them are presented in ultraviolet light. It creates an unusual, intriguing impression, reveals compositional elements invisible in normal daylight. The multi-threaded painting of Krzysztof Pająk captivates with unbridled spontaneity, unlimited imagination. The accompanying magic allows you to rise above everyday life. Fascinating sets of signs and symbols comment and interpret tensions and conflicts that exist not only in nature. They depict the fears of everyday life. His visions are a very personal, convincing reading of the metaphysical and existential dimension of reality. For me, art is ordering the chaos of the world around us - says the artist. Under what is considered superficial decorativeness, I would like to reveal the other bottom - noble simplicity and harmony. Jerzy Brukwicki, curator
