Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Pencil, Spray Paint on Canvas.

"Crashing the Waves" is a large original acrylic painting, on canvas.
It comes unframed, with hooks and cord on the back. It is painted on a deep stretcher, meaning it can be framed by the client, if they wish.
This painting manages to be both calm and dramatic at the same time. The large pale areas create a feeling of tranquility and stillness, interrupted by the darker area in the lower section.
I love how the masses are broken up by a beautiful run of lines, creating rhythm, movement and interest.
Both the title and piece itself have a poetic reference to the ocean. It was not my direct intention for this painting to be about the sea, but perhaps the fact that I live by the sea, in Brighton, in the UK, has a subliminal effect on my life and work.
