About The Artwork

Philosophizing? Painting "Creation of the World". What is the connection between the story of A.P. Chekhov's Ward No. 6 and Robert Fludd's Great Darkness? This is my painting "The Creation of the World". The idea of the picture was born after reading Chekhov's story "Ward No. 6". It is noteworthy that the impetus for writing the story was Chekhov's trip to Sakhalin Island, where he studied the life of exiles and convicts. In general, the story reflects the state of society in Russia at that time. However, nothing has changed since then. Indifference. Irresponsibility. Degradation of personality. The arguments of the protagonist, Dr. Ragin, about medicine reach the point of absurdity, starting with “death is an immutable law of nature and therefore is not evil” to the benefits of suffering for the human soul. According to the doctor, suffering leads to the perfection of the individual and, in fact, why should a doctor relieve this suffering? The end is still the same. Sooner or later. Sounds monstrous. Especially from the lips of a representative of the most humane profession. It made such a strong impression on me that my thoughts flew deeper and now I have already reached the moment of the creation of the world. Before my eyes suddenly surfaced ciliates-shoes - cute protozoa, the only ones that I remember from my school course in biology. And then, like a flash, a picture so bright and dazzling that it seemed to hang in the air. In the process of creation, I modified it a little. For a long time I could not finish it: something was missing. And, lo and behold, during one of the lectures on contemporary art, I saw a painting by Robert Fludd, an English thinker and philosopher of the 16th - 17th centuries, "The Great Dark", in which he depicted the emptiness of the world before its creation in the form of a black square. Darkness, endless nothing. On the four sides of the square there is a signature "Et sic in infinitum" - "And so on to infinity." And then I thought that he was wrong: before the creation of the world, there was light, not darkness. Metaphorical darkness, in principle, cannot give birth to anything - only the same kind of darkness. I think that emptiness is not darkness, but light, creative energy. The creation of the world is a process because light is eternal. It has no beginning and no end. Just like space has no boundaries, there is no end to the world. Therefore, the world is eternal. It can transform, but it will never disappear. My painting is an answer to Robert Fludd through the ages. It has the phrase "Et sic in infinitum" forming a circle - a symbol of infinity. Its background is white because the world was born from light. The picture is made in mixed media: acrylic, oil pastel, acrylic paste on canvas. The picture is painted with bright colors: pink, blue, purple, turquoise, orange. The ends of the painting are painted. I pack works of art with care so that they arrive in perfect condition. Heavy duty, high density foam boards are used to cover the front, back and sides. The work is sent with a certificate of authenticity. You can also purchase prints of this picture on quality paper, framed, unframed or on canvas.

Welcome to my page. My name is Olga Minina. I am a self-taught artist. I was born in 1973 and live in Russia. My profession - a lawyer, to which I have devoted many years, served as an impetus for me to express my ideas in paintings. One of the qualities of a real lawyer is inner freedom: freedom from conventions, other people's opinions, frameworks imposed by society, without which it is impossible to realize his main purpose - to defend the rights and freedoms of other people. Therefore, the main theme in my work is the theme of freedom. Freedom is the main value in this world. And I want to pass it on to others. The second topic that began to interest me as I grew creatively is the relationship between people and the psychology of personality, because my profession allowed me to study psychology well. In my opinion, images allow people to think more deeply about the meaning of the author's statement than words. I've always liked double meanings and non-obvious answers to simple questions. I am an artist with varied interests and talents. I am attracted by everything new and unknown. I write in oils, acrylics, dry and oil pastels, pencils, watercolors. I love mixed techniques. I take art very seriously and use it as a means of expressing my ideas about the modern world and emotions on canvas. In my opinion, images allow people to think more deeply about an author's statement than words. I have always liked double meanings and non-obvious answers to simple questions, I like to excite the minds of people, to encourage them to think. I am constantly learning: studying the history of art, acquiring new skills in painting. I participate in international exhibitions of contemporary art. And I'm not going to stop. I believe that I have sufficient potential to take my niche in contemporary art. An interesting fact is that there are a lot of lawyers among famous artists. Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Mikhail Vrubel and many others. And this is not casual. Scientists have found that people who can think creatively are intellectuals. It was not for nothing that Albert Einstein noted that "creativity is the entertainment of the intellect." Thank you for your attention to my work.
