About The Artwork

A hard-edge enamel painting on plate steel. The work began with a digital drawing, which I used to mill the steel using a CNC (computer numerical controlled) plasma cutter. This process cuts through the electrically conductive material using an accelerated jet of hot plasma around 20,000°C. The surface has a welded support that stands the painted element off the wall, creating a pleasing shadow. The cruciform (cross form) shape has a 15-degree shear suggesting form-in-flux.
