The series Crying Palmyra contains 6 paintings and is “before during and after”
Isis entered and destroyed what was part of out cultural cradle.
A general layer in this series is the one with heavy or large brushstrokes it's meant
to show the way the population was swept away from Syria.
The red trace in the bottom of the painting is a general layer an electrocardiogram,
that shows in a very exact way whether there is life or not.
In this case there is not much life and hope left so the trace is almost fading out.

My paintings are often a work in progress that follows my daily life situation and a kind of diary.
Working upon daily hurdles that I as mother, wife and artist am going through.
There are lot of things to take care of and they suck out almost all creative energy.
It is an on going fight and you only manage if you are stubborn
and really want to stay in front of your canvas.
I love my frustrations they continually give me something to work on.

As time goes by and I have less trouble being a mother I start looking around for new challenge.
Crying Palmyra is very much about what is going on right now in our society.
A statement of horror, terrorism and fights that are not giving much hope for a better tomorrow.

Original art work, oil and tempera on canvas.
Gallery wrapped and stretched on a 2 cm deep stretcher frame,
the edges are painted. Shipped stretched and ready to hang.
