About The Artwork
Crystal Coffins is group of nine artworks inspired by the limetless imagination of glass cutters and blowers to enhanse the shallow vessels know as ash trays. These art works address the high aesthetic design and decoration often applied to objects of seemingly innocent properties created to mask their destructive results. The original works created between 2015 and 2019 were done using white oilstick, crayon, and pencil on painted canvas stretched over board or stretched over wood panels. The series is dedicated to the memory of all who have lost their lives to the various cancers born from the use of tobacco.
