Dageraad Painting

Hello there! My paintings consist of multiple transparent layers, this makes it spacious and gives the illusion of movement. My work stems from a fascination with the working and power of the mind. Coincidence gets to play a part in the working process. I associate coincidence with uncertainty, the unknown. As contrary to the certainty of fundamental religion or extreme materialism. I feel letting uncertainty and vulnerability having a role in your life is an interesting alternative in a world that can seem afraid of it. Vulnerable or uneasy subjects interest me in this matter. I visualize the process of stepping out of self-made restrictions. The material I use and work proces stem from the ideas I want to express. The empty space is part of the work Visible/invisible is a recurring theme. Invisible like time, the mind and other everyday themes, which are really unexplored yet. I work in a studio in Rotterdam; next to painting I work as an interactive performer and storyteller.
