I usually work six hours a day with long breaks every two hours. My atelier is in the mountains and I warm up with a wood stove. There is a lot of silence in the village where I work.
In a month I can do one to three paintings.
Sometimes I work impetuously and I let myself be carried away by creativity without respecting the initial project.
In this work I let myself be carried away by pure creativity and, as happens sometimes, I feel I have restored the beauty and power that the reality of the landscape transmits to me.
When I paint I use flax oil a lot to dilute the colors and to obtain the reflections of light through the veils.
I make large paintings because I have more space to express myself.
With this work I want to convey the poetry and the delicacy with which the darkness of the evening takes its place in the light of day.
The magic moment of the transition from day to night transmits a unique and silent force to the whole landscape.
The painting was painted with oil paints on canvas mounted on a frame.
The picture will be sent whole on a chest, ready to be hung.
The painting does not have the frame.
The picture, which is long and narrow, can be hung in a low wall of an attic.
If the wall is poorly lit the painting accentuates the semi-dark atmosphere of a room.
Italian Landscape.

I started painting at the age of five. My mother gave me a large room for painting when I was little. I have always dedicated myself to art. For many years I worked as an illustrator for children's books. In 2002, IBBY Andersen in London included me in their catalogue of the 100 best illustrators in the world. I love all artists, both contemporary and from the past, and in my paintings I am inspired by Mantegna and Caravaggio, the French impressionists and the Italian Macchiaioli. With my paintings, I want to hold that magical moment I experience in front of a landscape, an object or a particular event, and transfer it to the canvas. I love all my paintings like children, and I feel that in each one I have given form to that sense of strength, silence and infinity that permeates everything and inspires my works. Lately I'm deepening my research on light and shape. In particular, I am working on the essentiality of form and the power of light. I do many studies and many sketches before I do a work. I take care of the use of colors very carefully and I tend to be as essential as possible, always leaving free the creative drive that motivates me. Currently the most recent works are included in the Italian National Catalog of Cultural Heritage.
