About The Artwork
The warmth of the sun touches the subject's youthful face as she reclines lazily in her chair. The meadows behind her are colourful and warm; she reclines into its golden ambiance like a cat curling up in front of a warm fire. She has no cares, no thoughts or doubts, only dreams of what the future might hold. The succulent fruit before her is the symbol of her fertility. N.B. I predominately paint the female form because its shape and colour enhance our lives.

My painting career started in hospital where I spent most of my adolescence, suffering from Still’s disease - a progressive and debilitating form of rheumatoid arthritis. My disease is progressive but in spite of my physical challenges, I have had an incredible career; my work hangs in private collections in the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the USA, most notably in The White House. I was born in Manchester; and have studio galleries in St James, Barbados and in Cheshire, UK. I am best known for my vibrant and dynamic paintings, courageous use of colour and representations of the female form; over the years, I have been compared to Matisse and the Fauvist painters, Modigliani and Picasso.
