ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work depicts a seated woman, expressively anchored in a tranquil yet evocative pose. Her head carriage is noble, a colorful bandana adorning her intricately braided hair, accentuating her penetrating gaze. The artist's palette of vibrant, contrasting colors is immediately eye-catching. The woman's flowing gown of brilliant sky blue stands out against the intricate background, blending brown and gold hues with a delicate turquoise floral pattern. The fluidity of the fabric, beautifully rendered, suggests a gentle breeze and adds an ethereal touch to the composition. The dress almost seems to dance around her, reinforcing the impression of a moment suspended in time. The painting's background is particularly intriguing, with a juxtaposition of vertical stripes and floral ornaments that create a striking contrast with the central figure. This fusion of abstract and figurative elements demonstrates the artist's technical dexterity and creativity. The addition of traditional ornamental symbols in the background adds cultural depth to the work, marveling at its complexity and subtle nuances. The whole painting conveys a powerful combination of serenity and dynamism, capturing the essence and beauty of femininity. The attention to detail - in the texture of the clothes, the expression of the face and the harmony of the colors - makes this work a poignant testament to the artistic mastery and unique vision of its creator.

Born in Courrières in the North of France, I share my time between the North of France and Paris which inspires me many urban scenes including café terraces. I have always used oil paint because slow drying suits my technique better. I work in series by inspiring my surrounding, places I go to, objects I own and stage. In the series "Réflexions sur le temps qui passe", I treat the cars and Vespa in the manner of the "vanities" of the past by perforating the bodies, rusting them, thus translating the time that passes and which reduces to few things once prestigious vehicles. The parallel is obvious with our own existence. In the still lifes séries, I stage objects with a preference for metal and glass and using a palette of coloured grey and nuanced white so as to have a contemporary touch. In the series "Mes petites Nanas", I interpret scenes, situations, by putting in scene my daughter who is used to me as model (The comedy of the feelings, or the works on the small girls). Finally, the urban landscapes are inspired, as I said earlier, by my numerous stays in Paris where I live part of the year.
