About The Artwork

I was feeling helpless in the face of the Brazilian Amazon fires and surrounding crisis, so I created an original painting inspired by, Diana a real life defender of the forest. I learned about her incredible story through the Rainforest Foundation. Diana's father was murdered by loggers when she was just 18, and she bravely took up his life's work of defending their traditional land rights and protecting the "Lungs of the Earth." She’s a spirit portrait in the Amanacer signature style, with a symbolic blending of Haitian, Brazilian and Hindu gods of resistance and nature such as Ogun. 100% of the profits of sales from this print will be donated to Rainforest Foundation US and the work of Diana’s community. I hope she serves you as a constant reminder, not just through this crisis but our lifelong commitment to protect the lungs of the earth and the communities who defend them for us all.
