About The Artwork

A house party with family and friends and using a large blank canvas on a big table for the meals in the morning the children brought down an Art Box and began drawing on the canvas. Then it was used for lunch, and the evening meal, and as the evening progressed the guests began to draw on the canvas. I folded the canvas and kept it for two years and I had the idea of using it in my degree show. I made a wooden stretcher and worked on the canvas, and using food colour and water colour and oil and other mediums I made the painting and called it Dinner Party. It has been in storage for some time... and now I think I would like to add it to my collection of more recent paintings with Saatchiart.com.

Following a career in London I went to the University of Hertfordshire as a full time student on the BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Art. My large painting, 'Present Tense Ronda', from that Degree Show is now exhibited in the University's Fine Art Department, and the large painting 'Diner Party', from the same Degree Show, assisted in my application in taking up full time study for the Masters Degree in Fine Art Practice at Central Saint Martins, London. I worked from a studio in Hackney, London, and became involved in a number of art projects including the development of an original Victorian area of Kings Cross in London. Whilst at the University I worked in the printing department using silk screen and photo-etchings techniques in my paintings. The paintings "Breaking Boundaries", "OldWorld/NewWorld", "The Labyrinth" and "Marks in the Sand", are large paintings which incorporate printmaking. The paintings refer to my experience of working in a childrens' home in Vancouver in the early 1970s. The children were of all ages, and were from very different backgrounds and cultures. Sadly I returned to the UK because of ill health and I did not return to Vancouver until 2010. It was on that flight in mid summer, when travelling over Iceland, and Greenland and the Polar Ice Cap, that I could clearly see the glaciers and the rivers of ice falling into the seas below. These aerial views inspired the first of the "Ice Flo" series.
